Terms & Conditions

The purpose of Home’s e-petitions process is to provide a way for Home’s customers and clients to raise a matter for the Home Board to discuss. All e-petitions will be accepted and published onto this website provided they comply with the following requirements:

  • they are not similar to and/or overlap with an existing e-petition that has been considered by the Home Board within the last two years.
  • they meet the Submission Conditions and Content Requirements set out below.

Decisions to accept or reject an e-petition will be made by Home’s Company Secretary on the basis of these requirements. We aim to notify petitioners of our decision within 3 working days of receiving their e-petition.

E-petitions are open for Home’s customers and clients to sign for three months from the date on which they are published on our website.

Submission Conditions

In order to protect our e-petitions process from possible abuse, you must satisfy some basic conditions when creating or signing an e-petition you must be either

  • a current Home customer (someone who currently holds a lease, tenancy or licence from Home); or
  • a current Home client (someone who currently receives care and support services from Home).

If you want to sign an existing e-petition, you must use the online form to provide:

  • your name, home address and email address. This is so that we can check that you are a Home customer and client, and so that we can validate your email address.

None of your personal details will be published on the site, and the information you have given us will not be used for any other purpose than in relation to the petition.

If you want to create a new e-petition, you must use the online form to provide:

  • the title or subject of the e-petition
  • a short, clear statement covering the subject of the petition, and describing the action you want the Home Board to take
  • your name, home address and email address. This is so that we can check that you are a Home customer and client, and so that we can validate your email address.

No personal details other than your name will be published on the site, and the information you have given us will not be used for any other purpose than in relation to the petition

Once accepted, your e-petition will be made available online for other Home customers or clients to read and to sign if they wish. When submitting an e-petition, Home Group will use your email address for validation purposes, and where necessary, to gain further clarification from the petitioner to ensure a valid petition is posted.

Content Requirements

Your must make your e-petition in good faith, and in order for it to be published on our website it must be decent, honest and respectful in content.

In keeping with these content requirements, your e-petition must not include:

  • information which may be protected by a legal restriction, including an injunction or court order
  • content which is potentially libellous or false
  • material which is potentially confidential, commercially sensitive, or which may cause personal distress or loss to an individual
  • language which is offensive, intemperate, or provocative. This not only includes obvious swear words and insults, but any language to which people reading it could reasonably take offence
  • the names of individuals, or information by which they may be identified
  • statements which amount to advertising
  • joke or nonsense content.

E-petitions which do not meet these content requirements cannot be accepted.

In addition, Home reserves the right to reject an e-petition:

  • which asks for the Board to consider something which is outside Home’s remit or responsibility (for example, matters which are the responsibility of central government or a local authority)
  • where an e-petition is not the appropriate channel for raising an issue - for example, if you wish to make a complaint (since we have a separate procedure for this - see how can I complain).

Communicating with you

As part of the process of creating a new e-petition or signing up to an existing one, we will email you to validate your email address.

If you have created a new email petition, we will also email you to confirm if your email petition has been accepted or rejected. If it has been rejected, we will tell you why in our email.

We publish summary details of open, closed and rejected e-petitions on our website.
